Job description:
Ideal candidate will be a recent graduate from a BSN program with less than one year experience and hold a current Texas, or compact state RN License by the program start dates listed below. Prior MD Anderson experience as a student nurse or in a clinical rotation is a plus but not required.


Program start dates are scheduled for March 11th, March 25th, April 8th and April 22nd, 2013.

In addition to the clinical nursing orientation, the residency program at MD Anderson is a 12 month program designed to be a component of the new graduate nurse's formal education process. The program offers graduate nurses a comprehensive and customized mix of clinical orientation, leadership, and socialization opportunities to help build confidence, enhance professional relationships, and ease the transition into the role of registered nurse.

Essential Functions

Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Ensures integration of safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team care. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights.

Job Description-Requirements REQUIRED:
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Must obtain RN licensure for the State of Texas prior to beginning employment.

PREFERRED:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
MD Anderson experience as a student nurse or in a clinical rotation strongly preferred.
